Thank You Coaches!

Thank you coaches for all that you do-we really couldn't do this without you!

What does a Head Coach do?

  • Contacts players/parents to distribute uniforms, picture order forms, and communicate schedule. (Uniforms and Schedule are provided by PVSC)

  • Serve as a point of contact to your team for mid season updates, game day cancellations, and other communications

  • Select a "team parent" to organize snacks and drinks for after the games

  • Select and work with an assistant coach to help at practices and games.  Please remember that any formal coach (wearing a PVSC Jersey) must have background checks in place- see below.  It is fine for parents to help out informally at the coaches discretion

  • Organize practices and game days to teach players age appropriate primary skills – from team play and kicking at the pee-wee level to more advanced on the ball skills, rules of play, and basic game strategy for the older teams.

  • Put together a line up for each game, ensuring players are rotated from position to position and in and out of the game. Each player should receive the same amount of playing time.

  • Coach your team at each game.

  • If there are any changes to your roster (e.g. a player drops), you are required to inform the league, if the notification did not come from the league.

  • Distribute trophies (provided by the league) at the last game of the season

Club Role

The Club can provide a lot of support for all head coaches, new and returning:

  • We offer clinics for coaches, new and old.

  • The Club will pay all coaches and head coaches for the mandatory criminal background checks.

  • Game day field setup, referees, and other facilities are provided by the Club.

  • There are numerous online resources for coaches at our Club website

  • Practice equipment is provided, including practice balls, portable goals, cones, pinny jerseys, etc.

  • The club has agreements for practice fields at multiple locations throughout the area, it should be easy for us to help you find a local field for your teams practices

  • All games are scheduled by the club, and once you select a practice time and location that fits your individual schedule, the club can confirm that for you with the host facility

  • A number of the staff and other coaches are licensed and certified trainers and coaches, and are available to sit in at a practice, or help new coaches put together practice plans, or any other advice, assistance, that you need.

Uniforms

Uniforms are ordered prior to the beginning of each season.  Each uniform set comes with a shirt, shorts, and socks. Shin guards and a soccer ball are not provided and are the responsibility of the parent. We hope to distribute uniforms at the coaches clinics. The uniforms will be sorted for your team and you should subsequently setup a pickup time (for your own team) later on that week so that your team can get their uniforms before Opening Day. You will also receive information/order forms for Picture Day within that packet.  Any questions on uniforms can be directed to info@perkvalleysoccer.org

Weather Conditions

The club will make an official announcement for games on Sundays. The communication will generally come through an email to our entire season database, an email to coaches, and an update on our website. We will make the determination to postpone games by 10am (we add another week of games to the end of the season). We require coaches to make the decision to hold practices or to cancel due to weather conditions unless fields are officially closed. Please use your best judgment and err on the side of caution. Coaches are required to cancel for any heavy rain, snow, hail, extreme hot, or lightning conditions.
