Coaching Checklist (Youth Intramural U7-U9)

1) Download the GameChanger app, access your team.

Download the app from https://gc.com/download. Make sure you use the same email address that you used to sign up and register for the season at perkvalleysoccer.org when creating your account / logging in. Otherwise, it will not work!

If your team does not automatically appear (yes, it should), you can simply import it manually by tapping the + icon in the app and choosing the Import Sports Connect option.

2) Say Hello to your team.

Send an email AND use the team chat in GameChanger to make sure everyone has access to the team and is able to get in touch with you and other parents. Communication is key, and it will help make the season go smoothly.

Parents running into issues can be directed to the club for help or GameChanger support.

3) Reach out to the other coaches on your team (if any).

Send an email and introduce yourself. Make them aware of any known availability issues or anything else that may be relevant. If you are not assigned an Assistant Coach, feel free to reach out to your team parents and see if anyone is willing to help on match days. It takes a village!

4) Choose a practice day/time.

Decide on when and where you’d like to practice each week. You should schedule 1 weekly practice, let your parents know of the details, and add the practice events to your app (as recurring).

5) Create a post-match snack schedule for the season.

Create a simple spreadsheet and share it with your parents, asking them to sign up for any of the matches. The players need their snacks! Be sure to ask in the GameChanger team chat if any players have known allergies so that nobody is ever left out.

6) Download our example weekly lesson plans.

Take the “plug and play” approach to run your practices throughout the season by accessing our pre-built lesson plans.

7) Learn the match rules.

Know what to expect on match day by reviewing match rules. We promise — they are not complicated.

8) Download our Substitution Helper Tool for matches.

Make it easy to ensure that your players all receive ample playing time (yes, playing time should be as equal as possible!) You will want to make sure to tell your parents to RSVP for each of the matches in the GameChanger app so that you can easily plan your substitutions.

9) Have fun!

The Philadelphia Union will not be scouting your players on match day, and we are not keeping score. Make sure that all of your players — and you — are having as much fun as possible on the pitch.
